Ahh yes, Gundam Wing. Quite possibly my favorite series. Why Gundam Wing? Well, it turns out discovering this series was almost entirely out of pure chance. I was just browsing around the anime section at the local video store, and the Operation 1 DVD had just come out, so that would make it May of 2000 I guess. I had never heard of this series before, but I wanted to get some anime to start off my collection, and on that day it was a toss-up between Gundam Op 1 or the Sailor Moon R movie. I was more familiar with Sailor Moon at the time, so I figured I'd take the new route... Big robots and cool motion covers were kinda catchy too. (The first run of the Op 1 DVDs had this neat motion plate of the cover.) So there was my introduction to Gundam Wing and essentially the start of my continuing quest to make my anime collection as enjoyable and diverse as I can find series to match my interests! ^_^

As for just what about GW makes it so interesting to me... well, I would have to say it started with the mecha (I was always a huge Voltron fan as a kid, before I even knew what anime was, let alone Voltron was from Japan!), and the continued interest came from the characters, the plot, and the music. Mobile Suit Gundam Wing

Gundam Wing is the story of five Gundam pilots who are sent to earth on independent secret missions, not knowing of each others existence. It is the year AC195 (195 years after earth's colonization of space; AC = After Colony), and the space colonies are under oppression by the United Earth Sphere Alliance. The mission of these pilots is to free the colonies from the stranglehold of this corrupt government, with the help of their nearly indestructible Mobile Suits, which are made out of Gundanium alloy... produced in space where such technological wonders are possible!

I have at last seen the series in its entirety, so check back in the near future for my thoughts and other reaction to the ending. I will make an attempt to not have any spoilers for others who may not yet have seen the whole series! ^_^
